Delta crappie

Taking my son out this week before starting school. Are the crappie worth targeting now in the Delta? Any tips on what to look for in the Delta right now since bass might be tough to get him hooked up? I do have a boat and usually launch out of Big Break, Holland, or Rivers End.

Anywhere around the boat docks and structure that has minimal current and use black/yellow or black/white Crappie jigs on four to six pound test! Drop straight down the pilings in deeper water or make longer cast behind the marinas with a bobber set up fishing the jig about four feet under the bobber!
Keep moving until you find them, saying dont stay more then ten minutes on any one without getting bit!

Talk about the ultimate school fish. Find one there might be another 100 right there with it. Lots of great memories of catching slabs at Black Butte in my childhood.
