BassPro US Open lake Mead

Post by Jim Wilson »

Just wondering how many people registered for the chance to fish this owners tournament. Looks like a no brainer to me if you own 1 of the 7 qualifying boats. The payout is epic with the chance to with $1,000,000 and a Toyota Tundra/Z21 package for each team member if you win the championship on Tablerock lake in Nov. Hell, it's $50,000 to the winner of each qualifier. That alone makes it one of the better tournament payouts we have out west. Can't wait until the 17th to see if I've been chosen.

Same here. Got an email asking for proof of ownership and had 48 hours to to so. Did that and got another email asking for payment and had 48 hours to call basspro for payment. Did that and got an email with proof of purchase. So, I think we're in.

Just booked at Sunset Station Casino. Anyone else staying there?

How’s their boat hookup and parking? I’ve only stayed at Boulder and it’s decent. Looking at options. Mandalay bay is just too far for me. Also looking at an rv park with hookups if anyone has recommendations

Wormin - Both Sunset Station and Boulder Station Casinos have electrical hookups on the 5th floor of the parking garage. These are the host hotels for the WON U.S.Open.

First qualifying event was March 13th on Okeechobee. I didn't know the payout after 1st, which was $50k but wow, $25k for 2nd, $10k for 3rd, $7k for 4th, $6.5k for 5th and $300 all the way down to 40th which is the last spot to qualify for the TOC at Table rock lake. News gets better and better. Can't wait for Lake Mead April 24th!

No I haven't. I'm going to be looking for info from them around the second week of April. Getting excited. Catch the lake record in any of the qualifiers and get $1,000,000. Isn't that crazy?

Well, they tried to have the tournament today. Gnarly two flag warning conditions with 5-6ft rollers at blast off that caused two boats to capsize. It was an ugly scene and I hope the people that lost their boats are safe. We all got a text and phone call about 8am to say the department of fish and wildlife had canceled the tournament and everyone to return at once. Waiting to see if we go tomorrow or not. Mead is no joke. It can get angry fast.

I'm surprised they went ahead and let you guys blast off in those conditions. I hope everyone made it back safe.

We had almost 14lbs they should have let us all weigh in. We saw some great bags. I'm pretty bummed at how this entire tournament went down in the first place. Lack of communication, regard for safety and overall decision making was insane. I really hope they learned a lot from this. 17 foot trackers with kids and 30mph winds......cmon bass pro. Don't even get me started on the shotgun start directly in to 6 foot rollers.

I'm glad I left.i have a 20 nitro that would have done just fine. Except I was fishing with my daughter so it wasn't worth the risk with her. Now change that venue to the delta. Let some else travel next time.
