36v LifePo4 100Ah battery

Batteries are shot for my trolling motor, and I was considering running one LifePo4 battery 36v 100Ah. Anyone doing this? I wanted to simplify things in the battery box. Pros/Cons any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm running a MotorGuide TP 109. Thanks!!!

Hey Scott there are a lot of threads and information on lithium batteries on the BassBoatCentral website. Check out this link that takes you to the trolling motor forum: http://www.bbcboards.net/forumdisplay.php?f=128. I don't have lithiums so I can't comment from personal experience but a lot of the guys say the lithiums have more usable capacity at a lower amp-hour rating and that a 36V 60Ah is sufficient. Russell Marine Products is selling them now and you could call them for info too.

Would you actually be using a single battery that is 36V x 100Ah or would you be using 3 batteries at 12V x 100Ah each? If you go with a single 36V battery you will need a charger that puts out 36V to charge it. Your onboard charger wont do that.

Just curious, what company offers the 36V x 100Ah battery?

That looks like a great battery especially with the 5 year warranty. I have a Ranger 519 with three battery compartments and that battery being almost 21" long would not fit in any of the compartments.

I use Ionic batteries because of their great bluetooth enabled app to check the batteries. They are the only provider I know of that allows you to easily check the status of the battery with an app.

I considered the 100AH 36V brick but there is one thing to consider. If a cell goes bad on that battery...you are screwed. If you go with 3 12V batteries and a cell goes bad, worst case is you buy a deep cycle to get you through a tournament until you can get it replaced. Also, not all boats can hold the battery case to the 36V battery.

Ionic sells both the 36V brick and the 12V deep cycles.
