If prepared, same can be done with the mountain ranges that are on fire which is causing all of us to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day whether we like it or not but alas, it's more important to send the water down south.....

Good luck!

Strategic carving island boundaries on mountain ranges, water pumps and pipes placement like you see on the mountain ranges of the grapevine heading to soCal from base to crest and have a waterfall over affected island(s) when these types of fires break out. Just like the idea presented in the article....

Good luck!

I've spent some time in the Sierras, and I don't see how anyone could "carve island boundaries" in them. Way too steep and rugged, and too many mountains. The islands in the Delta all have levees around them to contain the water if they do need to be flooded, and they're all flat and surrounded by water.

At a minimum, the powers in charge can come up with a strategy and a plan to address these outrageous fires that are forcing people to smoke a pack a ciggs per day. At least work a plan to prevent cities like Paradise from getting completely destroyed.... This may require out of the box and/or unorthodox methods. Till now, a big nothing is being done...

Good luck!

Well it's easy you run a sprinkler system over the top of the tree lines from lake tahoe and they turn on whenever there is a fire... Its just like taking an island that is below the water line or equal to it and is fully embanked and flooding it from the adjacent water that will be let loose back into the river and recharge the groundwater.....

Man, that would take a million miles of sprinkler lines to cover the Sierras.

Trump told Newsome back in 2016 too get forest management to start cleaning forest floors here in ca. They the democrats refused now there paying for it. And its going to keep getting worse with are lakes down. Democrats know whats best for ca. If Newsome doesn't get recalled sept 14th on sept 15th state of ca will be lock down again you can bet on that. And its funny how revenge has a way of coming back around. Stay tune

The Federal Govt. owns more than half the forests in California. Why didn't Trump clean those forests?

The feds own 33 million arces of forest land in ca and trump said poor forest management caused most if not all the fires in ca. Not climate change. And the governor of this fine state not going anywhere and the forest will keep buring and no water to put them out as long as he run this state.
