Amsoil HP marine
Anybody running Amsoil Hp marine in a Mercury opitamax pro XS.? Any pros or cons?
Re: Amsoil HP marine
I don't run it but from tests i've seen Amsoil generally comes out on top at least for conventional oil. 2-stroke oil would be hard to test since it burns up in the cylinder.
I run Evinrude XD100 which is appears to be about the same as Amsoil. Full synthetic and $50 a gallon. The only negative thing my motor does is load up in extended idle zones. It takes an extra second or so to blow out and get on plane once I get out. I don't know if its an oil or Evinrude thing but my guess its Evinrude.

Whoopbass, is your Evinrude carbureted, fuel injected or direct injected? I have a 2000 Evinrude Ficht direct injected, oil injected and I don't have the problem you're describing
Re: Amsoil HP marine
It's a G2 so it's direct injected. After about 5 minutes through a long no wake zone it may or may not load up. Sometimes it will load up in just a couple minutes. Sometimes it doesn't load up at all. It's not that big of an issue to try and fix. Seems to be getting better than when it started a couple years ago. Certainly not worth dealing with the local boat shop that employs an Evinrude Hater mechanic.
Re: Amsoil HP marine
You may want to consider Boatmasters they aren’t Evinrude haters. They work on way more Mercuries, but never hesitate to work on my Evinrude.Whoopbass wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 11:58 am It's a G2 so it's direct injected. Re: Amsoil HP marine
Yes. It's the digital pedal made by Evinrude.

I will check them out if something major happens. It's still under warranty so I can only take it to a handful of places.monte300 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 1:17 pmYou may want to consider Boatmasters they aren’t Evinrude haters. Re: Amsoil HP marine
I can feel it in the engine. Like there is a tad too much gas for idling so the engine loads up. The RPM's seem to be where they should be so I other then that I don't see how the gas pedal can cause the problem. I will have to keep a closer look at the RPM's next time it happens.
I will definitely check out Boatmasters if I need warranty work done.
