Yes! Good for you. For what it is worth I am proud of you too. If you can do this you can do anything.

I have not got to that point yet damn it! But I need to soon very soon.

Congrats Bassbones.

I quit about 10 months ago and to this day I still take $5/day, $35/week and buy every piece of tackle I want :D My LuckyCraft lure collection has grown -quite- nicely over this time period.

The urge to smoke is still there -every day- some days worse than others, but I been doing great fighting the urge.

I will NEVER smoke again. (PERIOD) Nastiest habit I ever picked up. NEVER AGAIN.

Anyhow congrats and keep up the good fight :D

60 days, I like that. I'm sorry I missed you this weekend.
It's going to get easier. I remember when I was at about 180 days  and I was standing in line to get something for lunch and had one of the most overwhelming urges to smoke. It was wierd, thought I was past it. I thought I had it licked.
I didn't smoke, and you and Mr. Cooch sound like some pretty tough hombres.
Just beware guys, that stuff can be real sneaky.
It's been a lot of years for me (not as much as Mr. Smiling Conlow, but I ain't his age yet, but I hope I look as good as he does if and when I get there!) and I'm so glad I gave the schict up, and I know you all will be too.
I had to come back...I know...

Way to Go, CJ...

Post by Ken C. »

I knew you could do it once I saw the conviction come out of ya! Congratulations! It was good to see you Sunday and yeah it would've been classic to do the "Bone's in Da House" thing over the PA

By the way, my wife Cheryl is at 3 weeks and one day today 8) !

Now just stay with it, and don't look back.

No, no, no... That will be for her, not me!!! That way she'll be comfortable using her own stuff and not be afraid to use mine (as if I have anything she should worry about as far as equipment is concerned!) You guys are awesome for offering that up!

In fact I told her I would spring for a totally pampering full spa treatment and perhaps a weekend at the ocean in some quaint little B & B after she makes the 6 months. That'll be my contribution. (Anybody got some ideas on where to take her?) H-m-m-m, I guess I'm going tohave to come up with something for a one year anniversary!

I don't smoke. I gave it up 42 days ago. I will never smoke again. I tried to quit in the past and failed. Once went 8 days before starting up again. Not again! That is a part of my life that is gone!

Congrats to the rest of you who are quitting!

Stick with it. The GRABS go away one at a time

Post by Jim Conlow Sr. »

I called slapping yourself on the chest for the cig pack every time you start to do something that triggered the smoking habit before you quit, "The Grabs"
The time it takes for the grab to go away shortens with time and eventually turns into a total dislike for the smell of tobacco smoke. I used to not be able to understand why some people hated to be around smokers, but now I fully understand.
By the way a med doctor has told me that my lungs have totally reginerated themselves, and I was smoking 5 packs a day when I quit.
Hang in there guys it just gets better.

Monday is 2 years for me too. Although my smoking
urges are few and far between and pretty mild after
that much time they are still there even today. Sort
of puts the entire industry in a new perspectve. What
ever they put in those things it sticks with you forever.
I often thought how hard it must be to kick a drug
addiction. I guess now we know. Certainly takes
a pair of brass boys combined with a hell of alot
of determination.

Well done you guys!

The urge does go away completely, it took about 3 years

Post by Jim Conlow Sr. »

They get to be less and less and then one day you realize that they have been completely gone for a long time
I think the rudest awakening is when a pretty girl gets close to you and her breath smells like a wet ashtray after a poker party.

Jim, that is SO true!!

Ex-smokers can smell that foul smokers breath from more than flippin' distance away.

No amount of makeup or tiny bikinis can overcome smokers breath.

If those pretty girls only knew how bad it smells...
