My company pays property tax on our manufacturing equipment, CNC machines etc. CA has total disdain for small businesses.

Keep in mind that any business in California is usually assessed some kind of tax for Unsecured Property. These are items a business owns that are not usually permanently attached. The tax collected goes to fund the services that governments use to fund the services they provide( or should provide) to protect these items. Things like Fire Services, Police Protection, etc. Boats pay the same type of taxes under a Luxury tax, which is usually assessed in the County where the boat usually is garaged or kept. I just registered a kayak New Years Eve 2023 in Lake County, because I was putting a Electric Motor on it and needed CF numbers. The DMV assessed the value of the kayak, the Newport Trolling motor, and wanted to assess value on the Lithium 24 volt 50AH battery, and Electronics.

A new bass boat & trailer will cost $100+/mo for reg and tax. That is $6K+ for a 5 year period. That seems a little excessive. Anyone who can justify the CA tax is off their rocker. At what point is too much? How much do we have to pay in taxes and deductions before we lose our citizenship title?
