Re: shimano spinning reel help
I've had my 4000 stradic for something like 30 years

Re: shimano spinning reel help
Both are nice reels, but I'd take a look at their saltwater spinning reels if you plan to fish around saltwater. Less chance of problems with the bearings down the road.
Re: shimano spinning reel help
I would go with an inshore or saltwater as previously mentioned.a stradic in the salt would not b recommend-would require lots of cleaning/rinsing after each use especially if used with braid-absorbs water, drys out and leaves salt behind. Lots of good

Stradic 4000 is aluminum but has a good anodiccoating like Calcutta reels and is salt water compatible if not abused. Vanford is composite and salt water comparable, not as ridged frame as Stradic.
