Last week my 480m stopped working properly. My unit stopped getting a signal from the puck or something. A question mark showed up over the boat icon in the center of the screen.
i looked at the connections i could get to and they all looked fine.
I have two 480's networked together and both screens get the question mark.
I figured i would ask an expert before i start tearing stuff apart:)
thanks,
joey

Re: question on 480M GPS
If you have a GPS puck antenna it sounds like it has stopped working. These can wear out over time. It doesn't hurt to check the Lowrance web site and make sure that your unit has the current software available too.

Re: question on 480M GPS
Thanks Ken.
The software is current, and the 3000series puck is only a few years old, but i think it stopped working when i was finshing in the rain. Maybe that did it. how do i check if the puck is bad?
thanks,
Joey

Re: question on 480M GPS
Take your antenna off of your boat and plug it into a similar system and see if it works on that system. If it doesn't it's probably bad. To eliminate the unit as the problem, you can plug it into a system with no problems and see if it will lock on there.
If you determine that the puck is bad you can call Lowrance Customer Care and see if they will help you in any way. It's worth a try. Their toll free number is; 1-800-324-1356.
