Clear Lake weather was absolutely beautiful for the 70-plus teams that came out to participate in the FPT's third event of its northern region schedule, but unfortunately for many, the bite – and big fish, proved elusive.

Topwater presentations seemed to be the technique for many of the top finishers, but many anglers commented that they found most of their “good fish” using slower jig presentations or using dropshot/finesse techniques.

Father and son...Congratulations!

At the end of the day, it was the father and son team of Ron and Roger Tarin that topped the field, on the strength of a 5-fish limit that weighed 20.34 pounds, earning them their first Future Pro Tour victory.

"It was the greatest feeling in the world to finally win a FPT event - and do it with my father - and hero, noted Roger at the award ceremony. This is a day I will NEVER forget", he added.

This event also saw fourteen kids match strategies in the FPT’s Youth Angler League division, and some of their five-fish limits were comparable to those in the adult division!

Cayden Mendenhall, who currently leads that division’s northern region Angler of the Year race, absolutely crushed the field with an impressive 5-fish limit that went 13.81 pounds, taking 1st place honors and $100 in cash.

Congratulations Cayden….do well at Oroville and you just might become the northern region Angler of the Year!
