Re: Tragedy Averted Last Night on Sandmound Slough

I'm sorry where were the parents. As an ex registered lifeguard. Why was this child alone and a neighbor had to save her. Over and Over and Over. I get so upset at these stories! Sorry for the rant. My thoughts exactly. There is no excuse for having an infant on a boat, moored or otherwise, without...

Re: Tragedy Averted Last Night on Sandmound Slough

It is so lucky that Mark was even home, that he heard her whimpering through the walls of his houseboat, that he went out to investigate, and that he had the heart to dive in to save her. Plus, the other neighbor, who was out on his dock on the other side of me, had just completed a CPR course and w...

Tragedy Averted Last Night on Sandmound Slough

Tragedy averted this time. Last night my daughter told me there were fire trucks and police cars at a house two doors away from us on Sandmound Blvd. This morning I asked my neighbor Mark what happened, and he said a 3 year old fell off a moored boat. Mark heard what he thought was a child whimperin...

Take it to a good boat mechanic, and figure it out before you spend more money on batteries.

Tom, I have to yield to your superior knowledge when it comes to mono and fluoro stretch. I just had way more feel with fluoro. I guess the lack of line belly could explain it. Now, I use it for my leaders when I'm fishing blades through tules, because it holds up really well. I wet my knots as I'm ...

I fish braid a lot, because I fish only the Delta now. I have gone to braid with a 20# leader, with an improved Albright knot, for my spinnerbaits, cranks, and treble hooked top water baits, to stop fouling the braid in the hooks and split rings. 100% improvement. I use 20# fluoro for blades, and 20...

Hi All, I need to replace my old rapala digital scale. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good scale up to $60? I normally just use a beam for culling during tourneys. I figure that's the best way. But I like to have an accurate reliable scale if I catch a big one while fun fishing. Thank yo...

Check the State Inland Freshwater Record rules. I had them changed to more align with IGFA. Straight braid is good to me when using the higher pound tests like 40-65 but when tying knots with 15lb-20lb if you are not careful you will cut your hands up when you pull your knot together. I have found that straight braid will get fouled in treble hooks much more often than braid with short mo...
