The average decrease in elevation between August 1 and the low point in pool between 2014-2018 was 65 feet. Based on these numbers, the reservoir will bottom out at 575 far less than noted in article. I don't know who they are fooling, unless the turn the spigot completely off.

Even when I provided backup on cost of my boat - my County valued it as they saw fit, with no explanation. And yes - no devaluation. Something I need to press on this year. Also - rather than saving the data each year - I have to provide all backup every year. Really awesome.

Precisely- DWR has intentionally lowered water levels due to “repair” work on dam. I have my conspiracy theories- but, regardless, it’s really unfortunate to see.

Would love to see more Cali specific research. This study is a bit dated, but does provide some interesting results. The research is a bit mixed among species, waters, etc. If fish were to concentrate, we would see huge concentrations of fish around marinas and Ramps, which we don’t typically do. I’...

While piscivory is less common in rainbow in comparison to brown trout, they can be quite predacious and there is no reason why bass fry, or fry of any species, wouldn't be on the menu. Gents - ask them for their application and management plan. Then ask for results and water quality monitoring. If they do not provide, tell they you'll FOIA them. Ask for a supervisor. I've been working to compile data - to show that much of this program is lacking.

The lake was planted more than 7 years ago. 5 is an awfully specific number...unless you were the one that physically did so, I would beware your source. Plus...the department would not have authorized it. I fish it weekly....yet to see a sturgeon.

Its not a temperature threshold; it has to do with temperature differences. Also - the lake doesn't "physically" turn over. The temperature profile simple becomes consistent throughout the water column.

Gary - for what reason do you think the catalyst is the difference in coho vs kings?

Shad were historically present in Oroville - and I do not know the answer as to why, but presumably the combination of wider fluctuation swings and the growth of the spotted bass population.

This is due to the frequent, extreme fluctuations in lake level. Water column constantly changing, no structure, water clarity, pressure, stress etc. This lake will turn into Nacimiento in no time. Year round suspended fish that won't grow over a couple pounds. Also, too many boats. Wild West Bass ...

Eat them...the regulations intend for there to be a certain amount of harvest, particularly of the most abundant size classes, allowing others to reach better size. If you release all the 13" back - they wont grow. :shock:

Quick update - I spoke with marina staff and they are projecting 1 - 1.5 weeks remaining for launching at Lime Saddle (if rates stay same). The ramp is down around the corner and there is a shallow hump adjacent to the ramp on the dock side. Water temp 71-72. Good algae bloom. Fish were sporadic for...
