It is not the motor when it is running and yes the noise is coming from the down tube.
So, is it a matter of greasing the inside of the tube, or replacing the bushing? Is that a part that needs to be or even can be ordered?

Noisy Trolling Motor
I have a 70# MinnKota Maxxum Trolling motor with foot pedal steering.
It has started to squeek loudly whenever slight course corrections are made destroying any attempt a stealthiness.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and how did you fix it?

I've had reasonable success using thin canvas fabric purchased from an arts and crafts store
cutting it into the appropriate size strip or patch and gluing it to the back of the cover along tears and seams in the cover using Shoo Goo.
Not 100% because the canvas does mildew quickly.

10-15lb PowerPro braid. Casts a mile, no "springing" off the reel, virtually no give making it extremely sensitive. Tie on a flourocarbon leader with an Albright Knot.
