Re: Whites Slough - Anglers BEWARE!!!
Yep those are my stomping grounds. From the bank and the boat. Definitely a dangerous area. First I'll say I'm truly sorry this occurred, you guys got lucky nothing happened. I have recently been working near the Ducks Unlimited property off Correia and 12. I have the option to stop by Guard Rd. and...

Re: What is your favorite species of Bass?
It's definitely NOT Redeye Bass! They attack anything of any size, and I haven't caught one of legal size. They are one hell of a fighter, though. I'd bet if they did get bigger, they'd be up there with a Spot. I remember as yesterday, 13 years ago, a 4# McClure Spot on 6# test. Took forever to land...

Turtle swimbaits, anyone?
Believe me or not, but God as my witness, this just blew me away.... I fished from the levee off Guard Rd. & 12. Fish everywhere I looked. They re-opened the gate this year, and I'm making up for lost time(8 years no access). Towards the end of the second big channel bend, I spot an 8 with a muc...

My go-to would be a regular old Hopkins spoon. Change out that clay treble hook! Fished vertical or horizontal. Pretty basic, but has caught me loads of fish. On lakes, if the fish are active, but finicky, I go with a 1/8-1/4 oz. dart head and a Yamamoto or Keeper Salt n' Pepper grub. Not the most f...

Hogan is almost full. All the planted brush piles are flooded. No fee is a plus, and plenty of bank access. I fished it last Thurs. & Fri. before work. Caught 2 smallies on a jig, and had a couple of ticks on a swimbait. Almost got bit by a Rattler up in Whiskey Creek. Camanche is really close t...

I haven't fished the Tracy area from bank yet, but I have hit the Whiskey & Trapper Slough area. That'll give you a lot of water to cover. As for the lakes, I know McClure and Pedro are pretty much a straight shot east from where you are, but if you don't mind a slight detour and a little longer...

I saw that clip(from Fish2Five) on Youtube just before Christmas of '07 and couldn't wait to fish it as soon as possible. And sometimes catch and release doesn't work too well there either! I checked the stomache of the Striper I stuck, had 3 little Spots that my Bro released. The s.o.b. just followed us down the wall.

That sounds like a textbook staging area to me! I found a great staging area a few years back. I don't know if you could call it a point, but it is big, round, and steep. It leads into a good sized cut. The "point" I fish has a ton of ledges, fallen trees and some Chemise. I'm usually havi...

My all-time favorite way to fish a jig is to pitch it to a vertical rock wall and let it bump it's way on down. It's gotta be the easiest way to fish a jig I know of.
