Re: Recommendations for clear lake get away?

All good choices. We used the Mallard House and Skylark about equally, probably the Mallard House more because it is tucked between two larger buildings which made it quiet and the rooms were more cabin like. Would depend on the timing of your getaway. The dock at the MH is shot and boat parking in ...

Never really was too keen on the dog in the boat thing as mine used to be Labs and just too danged big. Our little beagle goes out every day I do, guiding or not. I'll throw another slant on it and why I have bit the bullet on some spendy baits. After a day going through 4 to 6 soft swim baits that cost $15 to $20 and are shot, that $100 bait that is still catching bass 5 years later was a pretty sound decision. Still hurts though, you look at one little chea...

Yes, we have been using 1/8 on the bottom, 1/16 on the sides, and hitch hikers on top for the dummies. Works fine on 15 or 17 lb mono. It has been the lightest one we could come up with. Had to make our own 1/16 oz heads though.

Hey Bassn,

I just use some cheap, bulk 10 lb mono as the backing on all of my spinning reels. I am just guessing as I buy the big spools of Power Pro but I probably load about 75 yards of the 10 lb braid on a spinner.
