Yeah the big stripers do like to tear the wood ones up. I have one with hook holders going in a variety of directions
I prefer the wood over the plastic, myself, but agree with Justin, not sure it matters.

Whites Slough can be fun from a Kickboat this time of year. You can launch from Guard rd. or Corriea Rd. Check out bass - n - tubes http://www.bass-n-tubes.com/ they fish a bunch of events out on the river.

I keep my boat at Beacon Harbor and it's plugged in and ready to go for me, I know Russo's has a similar service. Beacon has been installing new roll up doors in their dry storage areas that will come with locks and additional locked storage space for gear.

Bobby's frog, get a white one, get a black one(it's ok if the head is yellow) and if you feel like spending a little extra dough at your favorite tackle shop get a bullfrog or sparrow or some other random color just to be able to try something different.

Most of the kickboat guys launch out of Beacon Harbor just down the street from Russo's, then you dont have to worry about as much boat traffic in the morning and afternoon from the tournaments that use the ramp on the weekends. I'm sure it got released, the ice chest is a livewell. They were fishing in a tourney. Kickboats are pontoon boats, you have oars to row and fins to move around.

There is always a bunch of wake board activity in that area, it is probably one of the longest straight aways on the river once the summer time comes they will be out there during the week as well as on the weekends.

Use braid for the punker I use 65, but I know some guys like 80 i just use the same rod for a couple other baits and i dont want the 80 for those baits. You can't go wrong with a 3/4oz hopkins spoon. I was using one this last saturday on the delta and caught a bunch of stripers boucing it around the bottom.

I had an 18.5 skeeter with a 55 motorguide and put the 80 minn kota and it was a world of difference for fishing the delta. I thought about the 101 but decided I didn't want to deal with stuffing another battery down there and also needing to upgrade my charger.

There is certainly a lot of options, but easy spots to do is Beacon Harbor they are two doors down from Russo's and you then will be out of the way of people launching from Russo's. Was in the same general area 2 years ago fishing Bull Shoals. Best fishing for us was during the night, we got on some good deep worming night bites that were fun. The days are so nasty in terms of the heat and humidity that the nights were great.
