I will say that i have not put a ton of time swimbait fishing with this reel so as to whether it will hold up or not i cannot say i have switched to the curado for most of my swimbaits. The guys who have said they don't ...

Re: Reels

I would suggest a curado 300d or e for smaller swimbaits and either a cardiff 400 or a calcutta 400 for larger baits. I dont think you can go wrong with any of these reels.

Re: Swimbait Rods???

I prefer the Dobyns 795 ML it is an awesome rod. I also use a Shimano Crucial that does a good job that is heavier than the Dobyns. I truelly believe the Dobyns may be the best one out there.

Re: Swimbait reel??

If i were you i would get a Curado 300E to start and then buy a calcutta, you are going to want two setups anyways to throw large and small baits so why not just start with the one you are going to use the most in the beginning. I agree that for bigger baits the 400 is a much better option but for a...

Re: Bluegill swimbaits...

I too would recommend the Mattlures Hardgill. The slow sink sinks very slow and IMO the hardgills are the best bluegill bait on the market. They are just so realistic and just flat out catch fish.
