Re: What is the law on alcohol on a boat?
I know the rules and regs are complicated for any given lake you fish, but the basic rule is a zero tolerance rule for the driver of the boat. So, if you're driving, don't drink. For that reason, I don't allow alcohol on my boat. Once we're done fishing and the boat is out of the water, then we can ...

Bill, you're entirely right. As long as the legislators get their salaries, perks, benefits and pensions they could give a good crap about us. Unfortunately, the only way that could change, short of state referendums, would be for them to vote it out. And that's not gonna happen. Another f**k story ...

I agree with what Pat said. Change plugs, filters and oil. While you're at it, change the lower end lube. Run some Merc upper end cleaner through it. And don't forget some Sta-Bil Ethanol treatment. Older carbureted motors do not like Ethanol.

Ok, let's get serious here. We all have a right to the same stretch of water. If another guy is fishing "YOUR WATER" you do not have the right to throw a fish, sinker or lure at him. That is just stupid. Let's not even get into the legal ramifications. If you can't handle a situation like ...

Your mechanic is absolutely right. Any time you burn oil and gas together you're going to get a residue build up. If it gets excessive you should take it in to have your mixture settings checked. You should periodically run one of the afore mentioned additives through your motor to keep things clean...

Go to Walmart and have your batteries tested. Have them run three load tests on each battery. Often it takes that many to get these newer type batteries to break down. If any of the batteries are questionable, replace it. You may also have a speed switch going bad. It makes sense as the higher speed...

You might be a redneck fisherman if: 1. You have a fish aquarium in your living room full of minnows. 2. The most common question at your family reunions is, "How're they biting?" 3. You own more than three shirts with cut off sleeves. 4. You've been asked at church to take off your fishin...

Why should I not use a ball bearing swivel with an interlock snap on a rig where I'm going to be changing lures often? The convenience of it makes sense to me and I don't think the fish give a damn one way or the other and it would help eliminate line twist.

I'm no boat/motor expert, but assuming that 20 footer is a glass boat, I don't think you'd be too happy with it. The power to weight ratio doesn't compute right. You'd be better off to find something smaller for that motor. Like maybe in the 17 to 18' range.
