Re: fishing dog
My dog, Kona, used to be terrified of my boat. I would bring her every time I went, and she would just hide under my drivers side console. Then one day, i blocked the area and forced her to hang out on the deck- she loved it! Since then she loooooves the boat. You probably dont want to bring your pu...

As some of you may have heard, the younger half of Team Elshere is about to go through the fight of his life. Eric Elshere, the local Castitas Pro, was diagnosed with cancer last week. He is just 31 years old and has many years of fishing ahead of him. Eric (elfish16) is very active on the boards an...

I had a similar issue that was caused by the automatic system software upgrade on my SD card. I erased the start up file on the SD card and all was well. PS. dont delete your navionics maps!! A soft reset should fix most issues. They are amazing units, good luck.

Ive had largies caught in 16 ft die from not being fizzed. it varies, and it seems the quicker they come up the more they are impacted. thats exactly what I have, the velcro has aged and doesnt work. I also added a jumbo pool-noodle to the post to act as a shock absorber. Im looking for something a bit more secure.
I use a luggage strap/buckle, to help where the velcro doesnt work so well. thanks for the suggestion.

The LSS should technically switch on and off with the HDS units. this did not work for me, so I installed a switch for the power for the LSS. The HDS units can go direct. Make sure you put an inline fuse at the appropriate current with anything wired direct to the batteries. This will minimize your ...

Agreed. Re: You are going to fish a new lake; one bait, what will it
I would need two baits: a jig and a deep crank. I want to cover water and learn about what is down there. A heavy jig with fluoro will allow you to feel the kind of bottom, and what cover exists. The crank will help you do the same. My 1st time out I dont care about catching fish. I want to dial in ...

Northern pike get big and mean. They looooooove spinnerbaits. They will eat anything moving fast and shiny. Jerkbaits too. I would only use baits you are OK with losing or ruining. There is a good chance they will inhale your swimbait/jerkbait, you do not want to attempt to remove it from deep in th...
