You can go to californiabass.org and contact one of the tournament directors and they can set you up with a ghost club or if you want to join an affiliated club that has meetings and their own club tournaments as well they can help you with that.

I use my usual med action spinning drop shot rod with 10lb test flouro, size1 gamakatsu drop shot hooks and 3/16oz weight and it has worked for me so far. I would say try using the set up you use for other lakes just use heavier line and go from there.

I've tried the jig/worm rod. Plenty of backbone and it's pretty sensitive as well. Seems a little heavier than some other rods on the market. Not a big fan of the yellow tho. Other than that not a bad rod in that price range. Just my opinion of them

I use them for jigs, helps get the slack out and into the boat faster, spinnerbaits: great for burning them just under the surface to throw a wake, and yes swimbaits too, using a slow retrieve to give the lure the right look and then when I get hooked up with a fish it helps to get'em to hte boat as...

the yamamoto saltwater series swimbaits work pretty well for me. I stocked up on Basstrix back in April but only use them in tournaments now. I've caught quite a few fish with the saltwater series. But like brambo said, you can catch big fish with a J&P and senko.

I trim them down about a quarter inch and I don't really walk the dog with them. I like swim them so they make a wake and it looks like the legs are kicking simultaneously. Works pretty well for me. I have seen some guys trim 1/2 to 3/4 inch off and that seems to work pretty well for walking the dog.

Try a mission fish swimbait 5" in hitch color. Throw up inot sparse tules and a slow steady retrieve back to the boat. Just enough to make the tail move.

The White Trash 5.0 is also good if you use a light 1/8 or 3/16oz weight either pegged at head of the tube or 8-12 inches up the line and short twitches of your rod. Looks like a baitfish feeding on the bottom. I've caught quite a few doing this.

The general consensus I gather on drop shottin' is 6-8lb Flourocarbon because it is virtually invisible under water. You want to go light line so you won't spook the fish.
I use Berkeley Vanish and Seguar invisX and both work well for me.
