Re: new jig rod ideas
If you arent sold on iRod or Powell completely, a Dobyns 765 is a good jig flipping stick and you can certainly drag 1/2oz and larger footballs with it. Whatever you choose, your line should be different for each application. 12-14lb is more ideal for dragging open water in clear water, 15-20lb more...

good pointAre you even allowed to recommend a direct competitor's offerings--the very brand your boss man had a falling out with?
But I wouldn't spend the remaining half of the post emphasizing the Dobyns cranking rods if I thought Powell made a better rod.

As a member of the Dobyns college team, I can't recommend their Champion series cranking rods highly enough. Besides cranking, the 705CBMF glass rod is absolutely my favorite rod to throw a Spook on. Mono is economical, but as mentioned so is braid. I switched over to braid on all but 3 of my 15+ outfits. Clear could turn on like Mr. Hemphill said. Delta is startin' up too. Bullards fishes well for BIG spots this time of year. But they aren't easy to find, and you are more likely to get a limit of 1-2lb spots if you don't look in the right areas at Bullards. Spots congregate by size, and if you catch...
