Re: Teleflex cylinder repair
I have a quart of sea star fluid. When you say turn to the side you are replacing do you mean turn to left, replace left seal looking back or right seal looking back? Turning to the left pushes the cylinder to the right, correct? Thanks, Wes

It's pretty easy, just kinda hard to put the saw to your deck if you aren't sure what is under there. I marked the approximate placement with tape and then carefully drilled a 1" hole in the middle of my template, it looked good so I widened it with a dremel until i could see there was nothing ...

Anyone out there replaced the seals on the Sea star hydraulic cylinder (not the helm) ? Mine has been leaking slightly for some time...PIA to keep purging. Bought a seal kit, gonna try this week.

Ditto Joe Bruce's comment. Johnny C rarely fishes on a guide trip unless asked. Those pics are from fishing with buddys or solo. Like Cooch said, it's all about the client.

There 'aint no big fish at either one. I know for sure, cuz I haven't caught one and I've been tryin for years! LOL
Seriously, plenty of giants in both, but monster spots at Melonies. BTW, a 6lb spot will jsut about wear you out compared to a 6lb largie.

Re: HDS 5 or TM Upgrade???
That would depend on where and how you fish. If you are primarily a delta guy, the TM is more important than fancy electronics...(ole' Coochie uses a rock and a string for depth I think). Power fishing and casting to visible cover benifit from a strong reliable TM. Dropshot and deep jig fishing are ...

I believe it is one inch of pitch per 1000ft of elevation, so if you run a 25p normally you would want a 23p at 3000ft.

Just noticed some spots on the driveway under my lower unit. Hmm...pulled the prop and removed about 30yards of some nice looking braid, maybe 80lb test. Into the shop, and $180 and two seals later and I'm good to go. Oh yeah, the shop gave me another 30yards worth! Discarded line suc...

Just think of what happens in your livewell...The fish metabolize the dissolved O2 and without recirculating (areating) the water, the fish will "suffocate" even though they are still wet.

I learned to rip on a Billy Westmoreland spinning rod that was about 5'6" long, when we used to call it "twitchin". I got very comfortable with a shorter rod and for years I used a 6' Shimano and did very well, but I tried a few longer rods and decided to compromise on the 684. I'm 5'...

Re: jerkbaits
The best aspect of jerkbait fishing from my experience is the ability to get fish that aren't on a reaction bite, using a reaction technique. I like to vary the pause, sometimes add just a wiggle, when intercepting a prime piece of structure. I will toss across a point and work it down to it's opera...

I don't know about your particular boat, but when mine gets stuck I can get 'em out using a pipe wrench.
Wrap some tape around the pole for traction, then use a rag to protect the pole when you apply the pipe wrench.

As the tide covers or exposes the weeds/roc...

Keep it simple with colors. Something YOU can see well is a good place to start. Black or white will usually get bit. Look for any shade during midday, otherwise just thow it wherever you normally catch fish. The best thing about froggin is that you can throw it almost anywhere...like way back behind...
