Re: Fishing Etiquette - How Close is Too Close?

My answer may differ from other people. I'm a casual fisherman. I try to not go out when I know there's a tournament going on. If I reach a spot where someone is fishing, I leave a buffer roughly 100 yards. I've had similar situations where someone "poached" the bank I was fishing. A boat ...

Re: December 1955 flood when high water from the Yuba and Feather rivers

My late father-in-law, Andrew Fernandez, was a hero during the 1955 floods. He worked for the federal government and knew about a migrant workers camp that was in danger of being flooded. Flooding was so imminent that no one wanted to go and rescue them. So, he jumped into a bus and drove into the m...

My friend, Gerald, paid over $1200 for a Shimano and Gloomis setup. That same week, we went to the Sycamore Slough and he drops his new rig overboard as he was moving to the front of the boat. We tried snagging the outfit over a period of several weeks, but no luck. Finally, he paid a diver $250 to ...

I use to fish the rocks around Jago Bay with red and white mini jigs. You'll find them along any shoreline that has tules. Used 4-6 lb test line on my drop shot rig. You can float them using a bobber, jig them, or cast and retrieve. Don't be surprised if a bass hits the mini jig. Caught a 3lb bass o...

My favorite thing about the delta is that you'll never know what you'll catch from cast to cast. Years ago, using the same Rat L Trap, within a week, I caught my personal best Black Bass (9.6 lbs), Salmon (28 lbs), and Striper (28 lbs). I've also caught catfish and crappies with that same lure.

Dave H. Even when a seller does his best to package an item, he doesn't control the shipping company or whatever happens when the item leaves his hands. The seller is not God.

The seller's responsibility stops when the shipper takes it.

On top of the shipping costs, you need to add insurance costs to protect your purchase. You may not want to buy insurance, but I've had a shipping tube get damaged and the rod broken while it was being shipped to me. Without insurance, once you buy it, it's yours, and it's your loss $$$$$!!!! I sold...

I don't think there is a simple answer to that question. Everything that you mention can happen. Hooks rust and will eventually break, but it takes a long time. A few times, I've caught a fish that had a second lure in it's mouth. Unfortunately, sometimes the fish die. I have snagged a broken line/l...

Check out the access points at low tide so you get an ideal of how shallow it is. Going in at high tide will make it safer, but knowing what it looks like at low tide will let you know which spot you can use to leave as the tide recedes.
