Re: Still have questions about the California Boater Card?

Nothing against this program but I would love to hear if anyone has been asked to present this card to a Peace Officer during a contact while boating. Wildlife Officer, Sheriff's Deputy, State Park Ranger, etc? Last Memorial Day at Lake Almanor, DFG and park rangers were checking boater cards and k...

Re: Seaguar Red Label

I have been using the Red label for at least 10 years. I typically use 15# yellow braid, usually Power Pro with 10# Red label. I use the Crazy Alberto knot to splice them. I can tie it very quickly and it is very strong. It may not be a slim as the FG knot, but it is plenty slim enough. When I tie a...

In the Motherlode, Amador was at one time, the place for trophy largemouth. Comanche is another choice. If you are willing to travel North, Trinity has great largemouth, with a smallmouth bonus too.

Fishing Etiquette - How Close is Too Close?

I am not talking about tournaments, or crowded lakes, just casual fun fishing. On two consecutive trips we have had another boat pull in front of us as we were fishing down a bank. First time we we were fishing up in the river of a local lake. A boat with 3 young guys pulls onto the bank about 30 ya...

Rising Water - Use Caution

With the recent rains, many lakes are rising pretty rapidly. Oroville has come up over 50 feet, Camp Far West is full, hopefully Shasta will start coming up too. Rising water means more floating debris, all those limbs and stumps that have been drying out for months, or even years, are going to be o...

I agree, huge price increases. We bought. A 2021 Nitro Z19 Pro in late 2020. We were out the door with a few options and a 7 year hitch to prop warranty, including sales tax, for just over $54k. Just saw a similar boat at Bass Pro for $67k, without tax or warranty!

I remember one event when Aaron Martens used that rule. Had a big smallie on a drop shot and it had a follower. He grabbed a second rod and dropped a bait in. The second one bit and he set the hook. He stuck the second rod between his legs and landed the first one. Managed to get it weighed and rele...

Also add in the Rodstrainer Panhead jig. I still have a few, but have migrated to football heads now.
