Berry Launches and highway 128

Hi All,

I am fishing Berry this coming weekend. I have not been there since last winter. Are all the launches open?

Is 128 open now?

Thank you advance for any info.

Re: Lodging near Berry

Closing the loop: My friend and I ended up staying in an airbnb near Maxville winery on Chiles Pope valley road. It is about 30-40 min drive to Markley. I think Putah is a little closer, but we didn't go up North because of the storms. The airbnb was tight. I scraped my fender. It was my fault, but ...

Re: Berryessa: Markley Ramp

I launched out of Markley on Saturday, the 7th. We used the lower one lane emergency ramp. Shooting from the hip I think the lake would have to come up at least another 20ft before boats could launch from the main ramp.

Lodging near Berry

Hi All, I am taking a friend fishing on Berry next month. Can anyone recommend good lodging? I live near Salinas, so don't get up there much. I know Pleasure Cove rents cabins, but the only one available when we are there is the "four man" cabin which if I remember right was tiny and had v...

Re: Still have questions about the California Boater Card?

Hi, I just gave the pod a listen. The speaker in towards the beginning said that this year all residents 45 years and under must have the boater card. If I read this website below correctly it is all residents 50 and under this year needs a boater card, right? https://californiaboatercard.com/about-...

Re: State boat tracking error

Hi, Just one quick clarification to my story. The attendant at the gate was very respectful and never called me a liar. I was not upset during the exchange either. I just felt like she must think I lied to her about not being anywhere in between visits to LBC because the state computer system is tel...

State boat tracking error

Hi All, I went to Los Banos Creek on Saturday. I had not been out fishing anywhere since early April and the last place I fished was LBC. LBC is run by the state. I still had my band on my boat, but was surprised to find out when I arrived that the band was broken which meant I had to be inspected. ...

Re: Evinrude Motors

I have a 2013 ranger with 250 etec. In 2015 I had to have some sort of electrical board replaced on the trim tilt switch because every now and then the trim tilt would fail to engage. In November of 2020 my lower unit failed. Thankfully I was still under warranty. My boat was sold to me as a “new bo...

Berry-Pope do not enter buoys

I live pretty far from Berry, but made it up Saturday. There are "do not enter" buoys in front of the Pope creek bridge that have been there since the last time I was there in January 2021. I saw two boats inside. Does anyone know if entry to that creek is open or closed officially?

Nacimiento Water Clarity

Happy Easter! I went to Nacimiento for the first time since November yesterday. I took my two 10 year old girls for what I thought would be a day full of guaranteed small spots on drop shot and neko which is their specialty. The surface water clarity was only one or two feet. I could not believe it....

Scale recommendation?

Hi All, I need to replace my old rapala digital scale. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good scale up to $60? I normally just use a beam for culling during tourneys. I figure that's the best way. But I like to have an accurate reliable scale if I catch a big one while fun fishing. Thank you...

Nacimento

Hi, I have been living near Salinas for the last four years, but never made the trip south to Nacimento. I'm not asking for specifics, but curious if you all think it's worth my while to go down there. I have been going North and East to the Delta and the bigger name lakes. Not fighting traffic on 5...

Re: Curado 200 HG problem

Yes, backing the tension off allowed the latch to close. I never had that type of setup on any of the previous versions of Curados I have owned over the years.

Thank you all!

Disappointing that Shimano customer service never called me back.

Curado 200 HG problem

Hi All, I recently purchased a new curado 200hg. I opened the side plate to adjust the brakes and now can't get the latch to fully close. After a cast or two the side platepops open. I phoned Shimano customer service this morning. The person that picked up said something like there is a tech in char...

Re: What do non-boaters give boaters after

I had been a non boater for many years in federation events and always asked my boater what I owned him and paid it. I figured that they were paying much more than I regardless. With my club, nonboaters pay half the gas from boaters home to lake plus half launch and any tolls incurred in route plus ...

Re: Interference with trolling motor

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your reply. That is tough news.

It is even more of a mystery when you consider the hds2 touch unit that died on me did not have the interference. At the dealership they got another hds2 touch and hooked it to my boat and it had interference too.

Re: Snell a ewg hook?

Thank you, did you all ever try flipping with an ewg hook snelled? I'm curious if there are hook up problems? In theory I would guess it works to the anglers advantage like a snelled J hook but practice can be a different thing.

Snell a ewg hook?

Hi, Anyone have opinions on snelling an ewg hook? In last 2 years I have been snelling a J hooks for pitching and flipping and love it. But for flipping tubes I still use a ewg with trilene knot. I noticed that gamakatsu superline ewg hooks have an eyelet that I think is designed to snell if you wan...

Berryessa accommodations?

Hi,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bassboat friendly hotel /motel near Berryessa? I realize I am probably looking at Cordelia or someplace else off freeway.

I know there are cabins at Pleasure cove but I think they are a min 2 night stay on weekends.

Thank you

Los Banos Creek Reservoir

Has anyone launched on Los Banos Creek Reservoir after all the rains? How is the ramp and water level? I would like to go there this weekend. I have a little 15 ft aluminum boat with 25hp motor. I last launched my rig there in mid August, but it was very challenging even for that small boat. I had t...
