Re: Is tournament bass fishing still considered a sport?

exactly, you make my point. someone must put in the time. you can’t buy your way into delta success. it’s not an advantage, they sacrifice other things to fish more. then on top of the fishing you must be keen on the nuances which separate the sticks from the joes. I’ve fished the shoulder of people...

Re: 519 or 520? And why?

I was in an 18' Ranger. I ordered a Phoenix 919 which should be here in about 2 weeks. Longer will make it a more comfortable ride. Basscat's prices went through the atmosphere, and priced me wayyyy out. Unless you make a bunch of money, they became the rich man boat. I've heard nothing but good th...

Re: 519 or 520? And why?

Ive been in 520s and owned a 06 519 520 rides better . Part of the reason i got rid of the 519 was it gave me whiplash in rough water I switched brands and couldnt be happier with the ride I was looking 2016 or newer. Are the hulls from the 06 519 the same as the current one? I know the 520’s chang...

519 or 520? And why?

In the market for a new rig. Ranger (but may consider phoenix or cat). The question is 519 or 520? I’ve read the threads saying the ride in rough water is the big difference but I’m 80% on the delta and the other 20% berry and maybe a trip or 2 to clear lake. If it’s windy on the river I’m not runni...

r2s ish flipping hook. I’ve tried all the hooks you’ve mentioned. Keeper is a bit low but I use the o-ring hack on the top of the bait and it works fine.

any more big fish on the river?!

I was just talking to George at Bay Tackle about how much harder big fish have been able to come by and snuck out right after with my old man. Just before dusk we made casts on my favorite stretch of river, and we swing at the same exact time. On my swing I boat flip a striper on a sweet beaver, whi...

Re: Thoughts on Curado DC

I like mine a lot. A lot is the nostalgia is when a stick first took me out and all he had was the Calais dc. I vividly remember the reels sing all day as he stuck fish after fish. I’d say pick the retrieve based on the application you’re using. I only see the advantage of having the faster retrieve...

#1. make sure the drain plug is in.

Re: the good old river.

Man Dave the sweet beaver is still my go to! That's what I catch 80% of my fish on. There's plenty of bass around still but no size. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one. The windows are definitely becoming shorter. The past month or so I've been fishing Mildred to coney. Ive been cranking or...

how's the delta been going for you all this year? I get out twice during the week (m-th because of the irresponsible jack offs) and I have been struggling. I fished last Thursday and fished extremely hard for 13#. I remember when I could get 13# at the horseshoe in franks in my sleep. I haven't ran ...

park your car and bring a bike. fish until someone says you can't fish there, then keep fishing there. you'll run into fish eventually. you can learn just as much from the bank as in a boat.

Re: Delta Discussion

The delta is intimidating. I've been on the river over 15 years and still don't know jack. Start off with deciding whether you want numbers or quality (rare occasions you'll have both) then fish accordingly. I think confidence is the biggest key. Confidence in what you're throwing, the area you're f...

Any firemen that fish? I usually am out on the river sometime Monday-Thursday. Would love to share info and sharpen my skills. I've been fishing the delta since a young lad and learning more every trip. Depending on the tide I'm out of frank's or orwood.
