I just picked up two cheapo group 29 deep cycles from Walmart. At $90 I figure I can get two or three of them for the price of an AGM. If they just last 2 years I'll be saving money. We'll see how they hold up and that will dictate what I get next time. They're powering an 80lb ultrex.

I always fish mine with a mono leader for the same reasons, but I have recently heard of people removing the front hook. Had anyone else heard of this? Is it because they are getting caught on their line or does it change the way it walks?

They store the boats at paradise but I don't always see them launch there. They must trailer to other ramps sometimes.
