The satellite update rate for the LGC-4000 is 5 times per second versus one per second on the internal. I have only used systems with the LGC-4000. Are you using one unit on the boat? There is a lot of water out there for the small boat. I keep a 17 foot G3 out there. I would not run all the way south from Windsor on a windy day but I can pretty much pick my area to fish and get there.
