I use Gamakatsu 114 and 604 5/0, prefer 114 because it’s a forge lighter wire hook,
Tom,
I’ve seen the Dobyns 604, but confused on the reference to the 114. Did you mean the GYCB 44-05?

Re: Sunglasses what color lenses for the delta?
I use the Wiley X (prescription) Mirror Blue with a copper lense, polarized. These are also my daily wear glasses so i needed something a little more flexible in terms of neutral colors. I like the copper as i get better light penetration then with grey and it doesnt overwhelm me like amber can. Be...

Re: Quarry Lakes-Fremont
Took a walk around Rainbow this morning to check it out for the first time, didn’t fish. Saw that there were a lot of flooded bushes and trees. Thought that targeting these would be a good bet. Is it worth trying out deeper with a reaction lure also? I did speak to a guy who was fishing for carp, he...

Re: Quarry Lakes-Fremont
Thanks for the responses! Was checking out the EBRP site and noticed lead could be a problem. But they stated it as lead sinkers such as d/s, bullet, egg, etc. Does this lead restriction apply to SB, underspins, jig heads and the like? I do have tungsten and steel bullet weights, but all my D/S, jig...

Shinn and the middle pond on the other side of the BART tracks are not part of Quarry, but do hold bass.
Thank you! So you can fish these ponds. I’ll take a trip down there next week to walk around and check it out!

Don't know if anyone here can help with this, but I'll give it a shot. I've been searching for small lakes and ponds in the East Bay to bass fish from the bank that are within reasonable driving distance and that are small enough to walk to several fishing spots. I know of Chabot and Shadow Cliffs, ...

Re: New Melones-What’s Working Now
Fished the lower Angle creek arm near the Glory Hole ramp on 8/28. Got on the water at 9 AM, already pretty toasty! Fishing was slow, caught 12 bass, all <2#. Graphed a lot of fish in the 15-20 foot range, but no takers. The fish we did catch were relating to flooded brush or trees near the bank usi...

New Melones-What’s Working Now
I haven’t been out fishing in years and have a chance to fun fish here next week!
Would like some ideas on baits and colors. I will probably take 4-5 rods spinning and casting.
Would appreciate any info.
Thanks....Joe

Plain Arkie Head Jigs-Not Skirted
I have a selection of Arkie skirted jigs. Do I need to have a selection of these heads without skirts? I'm trying to reorganized my tackle bag to make room for things I haven't fished in the past like underspins and swim baits. I'm planning to keep plain football heads in sizes 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 for...

Thanks Spinnerbait! No, I wouldn't want you to reveal the pattern, but if you could reveal a couple of other color options it would be appreciated. I have looked at both the Iovino and TW websites and to me it looks like the colors have changed a bit. In the past the baits were more translucent, the...

Re: Iovino Worms?
Thank you! One of the packs was the S-20. Looking online the newer version has more orange than brown. I had the 6" spade. Since they are now 25 packs, would the spade and ST in 2-3 different colors work well? I remember using the 4" Roboworm sculpin on a D/S and having success with it. Th...

Iovino Worms?
I found a couple of used bags of these worms in my garage that I bought 10+ years ago. They were 10 count. Now I see that the minimum is 25. That is a little steep if you wanted to get 2-3 options. Are these worms used much today, or have other companys like Roboworm become a better option? Thanks.....

VMC Spinshot vs. Gamakatsu Swivel Shot
I've looked at both, but never used either one. I like the idea of the swivel on the Gamakatsu, but not the clip for the sinker leader, nor the cost. The VMC requires another knot, but you would lose only the sinker in hangups. Does the VMC work well enough without the swivel?

Round and Dart Jig Heads-Hook & Shank?
Hoping for some advise on the hook size and shank length on these plain jig heads, footballs too. I have mostly Gamakatsu and Owners in these types. Why the difference in hook size and shank length in jigs of the same weight? A round head 1/4 oz. Gammy has a 2/0 hook, the Owner 1/4 oz. a 3/0 hook, a...

Not exactly on topic, but I had to post. Several years ago a buddy and I went up hog hunting on SB weekend, thought if we came home on SB Sunday the traffic would be nil. It was, but I got a speeding ticket on the way home. As the lights were flashing I turned to my friend and and said "maybe I...

All my selection of Roboworms are the smaller 4" worms. I like the wide variety in color selection with Roboworm, but they are known more as a finesse worm. Can the larger 6" Fat Worm and 7" ST be used successfully on a T-Rig, say as an alternative to the Zoom paddle tail. Thanks in a...

Thanks everyone! I'm gonna try braid w/ flour leader on my spinning outfits for DS, Shakey, and small jigs.
Braid on bait casters w/flouro leader for T-Rigs, jigs. For SB and cranks will go with mono or flouro.
Thanks again!

Thank you! So I just match my braid and flouro/mono pound test equivalents? If fishing 50# braid, my leader would be 12# flouro/mono on a bait caster.

Re: Looking for an all around fishing line.
Thanks for the responses! I never used braid, even when I was fishing long ago. Don't know why, I guess because it was pricey and I didn't understand it's uses. Also, the test differences confused me. I know that sounds dumb, but I guess I was line challenged! Do you match the diameters of the lines...

Looking for an all around fishing line.
Hi, I've been away from bass fishing for quite some time due to work, but since I've retired recently I want to get back into it. Almost all of the line I had was pretty deteriorated so I had to trash it. For now I'm looking for a single line that I can use for all setups, at least until I can reacq...
