Finding deep smallmouths with helix
My cousin and I both fish deep water natural lakes in western Washington for smallies. These fish from early summer to late winter are typically in 20+ feet of water. Besides using my Helix 9 msi Gen 4 unit for finding structure, I have a hard time picking up and seeing fish on my down imaging. With...
Jerkbaits
I’m starting to throw jerkbaits this year, just an element I’ve not really done in the past. I bought a few vision 110’s, pointers and rerange baits, I’ve hooked 3 in the last two outings but have lost all three. I’m using a Kistler klx 7’0 medium-medium heavy rod, sort of like an mbr style rod. Am ...

Re: Helix 9 g4n lake master issue
Disregard, went out the next day and worked. Technology anymore is just so over my head, guess a sign of getting old.

Helix 9 g4n lake master issue
Just got my new boat wet for the first time. Went to put in my lake master plus western states version 2 into my helix and.... nothing. My dealer said they updates the units before I picked the boat up Wednesday so I don’t think that’s the issue. Only problem I can find is compatibility. On humminbi...

Winter largemouth
I live in western Washington where none of our lakes feeeze over and cold water temps may get in the low 40s. During the winter I fish for smallies primarily in 30-60 feet of water in the lakes I fish. I have noticed that in all the time I have fished deep flats and points near river channels, I’ve ...

Lake master
I bought my first boat and will be rolling with an ultrex and two 8 inch helix units, mdi at the bow and msi+ at the console. I plan on buying either the lake master or lake master plus but am curious about two things. First, how often do you need to buy the programs, and second, if the units are co...

New boat warranty question
I just put down a deposit on a 2021 Ranger Rt178. I got an email from the loan person asking about platinum service and extended warranties and such. Is there a general consensus on the subject? Not sure if I should or not.

Re: New IGFA Largemouth Record Approved
Personally I think it kind of cheapens the idea of a world record. Plus how do they verify you were using 6 lb test and not 12 or 20. Maybe I just don’t understand it fully but it just seems unimpressive. But then again that’s a bigger largemouth she caught than my personal best so....

Re: New IGFA Largemouth Record Approved
I keep seeing people post about ifga line class records. What exactly is it? Is it basically the biggest fish caught with a certain pound test line or something?

Helix ultrex new boat question
Getting close to ordering my first boat and have a question. I’m looking to order a ranger rt boat and wanting to go with 8 inch helix units and an ultrex. I’m just not sure which ultrex to go with. Is there an advantage to the mega down imaging one or side imaging, or should I just go universal? Ha...
Re: New boat
The phrase you will most likely hear is "we don't have any wiggle room with these tin boats". As far as deciding between the two boats, I personally wouldn't pay the extra for a vexus. They'll both be good boats as long as you get one that was built well. You should take a look at bass bo...
Re: New boat
I don’t want to waste the time of a shop owner where I’m not buying though. I’m not sure if there will be good deals at the first of the year or not, not sure how COVID may impact sales and manufacturing capabilities. Might not be too many deals with a lower supply. I just don’t seem to see nearly a...
New boat
I’m about a month away from pulling the trigger on a new aluminum bass bot. The two boats I’m looking at are a ranger rt178 and a vexus avx181. I’m looking at a garmin force trolling motor and a couple garmin 73 units. The question I have, is there any room at all for negotiations right now when buy...

Yeah I’m on another forum and I’m getting the same feedback. If I tow a boat with it to really look at aluminum boats, thanks

Truck/boat question
I’m looking at getting out of the kayak game and into my first bass boat. I currently have an 08 4 cylinder Toyota Tacoma with a towing capacity of 3500 pounds so I need to keep the boat on the lighter side. Why are some quality lighter weight boats I should be looking at? Also, there have been a co...
