"Normal wear and tear after years of use" Actually the reel has barely any use. Almost no scratches and gears are smooth. I must have about ten of these models and this is the only one like this. Normal wear and tear can be said about bearings, handles, gears, and scratches to the cover. B...

Cracks in Drag Brakes

Sir,

I have over ten of these B series curados and just now, after years of use, am experiencing a problem. The plastic ring that holds the brake pins have cracked. The pins ultimately pushed into the brass drum and has grooved it. What should I do next? This reel has very little use overall.

Great! I have about 5 or 6 of the Lamis. I replaced the flipping stick last time for only $15 through Fisherman's W and it was a no hassle exchange. I have a number of these reels and some of the have a slight grind to them no matter how many times I rebuild them. What is the trick to make them silky smooth? Higher viscosity grease to dampen the sound? Or do I need new gears? I've noticed some reels would do this right out of the box.

Which model do you have?

If you have a power going to the unit, bypass the switch with a jumper.
It's very common to have a bad switch. The digital motors are more complicated and should be serviced by a certified dealer. Parts for older units cannot be found.
