I wouldn't run it like that. What would you do if you had to change the hub on a road trip? I would look into replacing the whole axle, its not that bad of a DIY job. Trailer shop could possibly weld on a new spindle, not sure on the cost comparison between the two. I agree it could last a long time...

I just went through a similar experience. If it is under warranty Minn Kota will help you find a place to take it. In the Sacramento area I could not find a Minn Kota Authorized Service Center willing to work on my generation 1 Talon which of course is no longer under warrantee. Only 1 out of 4 ASCs...

I would use Plasti-Dip available at most hardware stores. Home Depot usually has it and it comes in different colors. I would think the actual dip would work better than the spray but I am not sure about that.

Thanks Mitch but Fisherman's Warehouse doesn't service Talon's. Neither does Gone Fishin Marine which is the other Minn Kota ASC in the area. Its possible the unit is experiencing voltage drops depending on how the power wires were run. Its always a good idea to run a dedicated power source to your electronics. Good place to start if you are having strange issues and don't know the cause.

Honestly the major downside in an aluminum boat for me is how much you get pushed around when facing windy conditions or current. It can get pretty frustrating and makes me want to go fiberglass.
