Re: Outdoors HOF Snubs Larry Viviano in favor of Squaw Valley?
Larry surely belongs in the HOF for CA. I'm not sure as I don't know who's in and who's not, but Don Lee should be in as well. These two guys made a huge impact on our sport in CA. Dennis Lee is another one, but I assume that he's been inducted already. Dennis Lee was very "pro tournament"...

Wow, this always brings back memories of great friendships and my younger days. The thing people don't realize was this was made in late 80's and they had to hire a production crew. There were no cell phones like today. It was a gag by a bunch of buddies. They played it the first time at a West Coas...

Right now My best suggestion would be 705 Champion or Sierra spinning. I am going to bring back the Champion 765 SF and it will be the perfect rod for this. I won't have this rod for several months though, THX!!!!

Great post. Larry V. doesn't get the credit he deserves for the West Coast Bass Trail. He had so many great ideas and the biggest was the Pro-Am style events that run coast to coast now. Outstanding litter of Lab pups
Many fishermen got labs from me years ago until I lost my good dogs to old age. I'm helping move some pups from one of the best litters I've ever seen. I'm taking one myself, I get first pick of the males and can't even decide which one I want. All are great!! There's 9 pups and not a bad pup in the...

We did a lot of testing these cull buoys. We even sent out several sets to guys fishing lots of tournaments. All feedback was positive. We've sold a good number of these and so far all feedback is still 100% good. As with most products you test all you can but you really can't be 100% sure until bas...

Re: What Rod do you guys use for dragging jigs?
The 764C is a super versatile rod. Many guys love the length and power of it. It will drag jigs as well. It's a great C-Rig rod. Many guys use it for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, smaller swimbaits up to an ounce, pitching smaller baits. It's a rod that may not be the "perfect" ro...

Re: What Rod do you guys use for dragging jigs?
When dragging jigs especially in western waters where you may drag 40 to 60 feet deep you need length for hook sets. You also need sensitivity and balance. Our best dragging rod is DX 784C and it'll work fine with 3/8 to one ounce jigs. Another tip is if dragging straight floro once you set the hook...

Re: Best flippin/punching rod and reel
The Dobyns 805 Flip/Punch is a top choice for punching. Another rod to consider is the 766 Flip, it's what I personally use for punching. It's 6" shorter making it easier to balance, lighter, and more user friendly, I believe. The 766 is a powerful rod but has a nice tip making it easy to pitch...

Honestly the DC 736 CB Glass is one of our top rods, but it'll make a horrible frog rod. It's got too much load back into the blank for good frog hooksets and power to pull them out of the slop. It's a great rod and you'll find a lot of uses for it. THX!!

The DC 736C is the best frog rod I've ever used. I do have a lot of guys using DC 735C because it does the job "okay" and is more versatile to use for many other baits. If you go lighter still it will be easier to walk the baits and even cast but you'll lack the power to drive the hook hom...

In the Fury Series I'd say a 733C or a 734C. I made the Champ 734C many years ago as my personal Super Spook rod. I made it a tad slower to be "perfect". The Fury Series 734C is just a bit faster than the Champ 734C so many guys drop down to the FR 733C for walking baits. THX!!!!

The 704CB is an excellent rod for Shasta, Oroville, Pedro, and all the reservoirs like this in NorCal, but lacks the power for cover and grass in the Delta. There's really a bunch of rods that will handle traps in the Delta. I'll list some of the most popular: 735 CB Glass, 736 CB Glass, 705 CB, 706...
