After all those fish kills, dont we need to replant clear lake with Florida's again? How often should this be done? Fish kills? The only significant "fish kills" I remember at Clear Lake were the big carp die-off late last year (virus, IIRC), the normal hitch die-offs in late-winter/sprin...

Re: Optimax ?
My guess would be a piece of trash stuck in one or both of the thermostats. You can pull the T-stat covers off and check yourself, or have a mechanic hook the motor to a computer to monitor the temp. of each head individually. Whichever head fails to warm up will be the culprit.
Good luck!

Make sure fiberglass reeds have been installed. Especially if the motor has had a hotfoot on it. The old reeds would break and crack and make problems according to my mechanic. Paint the last 12" of your braid with ChapStick or candlewax to prevent the line from catching the front hook on a topwater. We used to use it all the time for mono when throwing prop baits back in the day, and it works just as well on braid.

It's RF interference from your TM, and as I found out the hard way, there's only one surefire cure. You will need to run a ground wire from the negative lead on your TM wiring (at the plug recepticle) to the skeg of the motor itself. IIRC, I believe I used a length of 18 gauge wire. This will cure t...
