Re: Where and who started swimbait fishing?
Yup Jim Manson was the man. Then the baits started to come out and were made from plastics to broom handles. The names were even better, Worm Kings, AC Plug, Hawg Buster, TNT Lures, Dominator, Terminator, Bite ME lures, Original Optimum's, Wooden Castaic, Z-Plug, Gee Plug lol the list goes on and on...

Hello all, I think from the Movie: Waterboy says it best. Jerry Reed said," My daddy says what's better than a crawfish dinner?, answer: Two crawfish dinners! I been buying swimbaits since the 80's, when we thought 50 bucks was a lot. lol You can never have to many swimbaits. But no matter what...

another thing I like the snaps for is the extra freedom it gives the bait! On baits like the Triple Trout and the Orso baits...the snap allows the bait to do a 180 in the water more freely and better. trust me...when that bait flips around like that...hang on for your life...they will destroy it!!!...

Re: Swimbaits on Top???
Deps swim baits, Optimum SOP's in 8in, Castaic 12in Floater. I have had good luck and the bass will follow these baits. If you have a partner have him follow the larger baits with a smaller one's sometimes the bass will attack the smaller bait.

These guys have all great tips for you. My take at this time of the year is a floater and twitched very slow on the surface by ambush points, across bouys, tulles, stick-ups, dams if you can fish by them. There is always that one bass ready to chew. maybe set one rod up with a floating bait and one ...

I love to throw bigger wake baits or swimbaits by underwater trees or brush. I love boat docks too, because you never know when that big one is just waiting for that easy meal. You just need to do trial and error, the bass will tell you what they want. I was throwing a Optimum bait at Casitas and I ...

In all fairness to those AAA's who fished with him, all you had to do is say at the end of the tournament is "You Go get the truck and trailer and I will check on our fish" that can give you 10 to 15 minutes to do what ever to the fish and no one would notice. Or you can ask your AAA to go...
