1997 Stratos 295 Pro Elite
Well unfortunately the time has come to sell my boat, I don’t have the time or the resources to run it as much as I’d like, so it might as well go to someone who will appreciate it. Long story short, I bought this boat in January 2009, so I could use it for my research project fishing at several loc...

Well I'm not sure just how bright your crawdad was, but I assure you they are that color in the natural environment. Craws change color seasonally, and different species will exhibit different colors throughout their life. The bright red craws are nothing unusual (perhaps the one you have was SO bri...

Re: Good jig rod for 1/4 oz deep water fishing..
Agreed on the fluorocarbon point, the line will help alot. More often than not, I use spinning gear for football heads (can't say I fish them much deeper than 20 ft) but it's worked out so far. As for rod specifics, I like a relatively strong spinning rod, say 6'6" in a 3 power with a mod/fast ...

I've built a few rods now with "Micro Guides" only one of the rods I would really consider "Micro" but I do like it. The smaller guides do control the line better on the casts. As for sensitivity, distance, etc. I can't say I notice anything, but I don't have any clone rods (one ...

When somebody says "nail weight", I always ask "Which way do you mean?" A nail weight in the middle is good for adding weight to the bait when using a standard wacky rig to achieve a faster fall rate. Nailing both ends increases fall rate and gives a wacky rigged bait alot more a...

I don't think so. I believe CA has mandated that all "gas" has 5-12% EtOH in it.
Don't qoute me on that, but I'm pretty sure you can't find ethanol free gas.

I'll toss P-Line Halo into the mix.
Green Fluoro, good abrasion resistance, perhaps a little stiff for some people, but if you are using the higher pound tests (I use 15 and 20), a limp line isn't to necessary.

How about putting on a long mylar or flashabou trailer and a treble hook stinger hook attached to the main hook by a 5" length of wire.
Huge profile, and good hookups with a treble dangling off the back end.
