If you're willing to forego warranty options there are plenty of decent 2-pc JDM rods you can order from the likes of japantackle, plat, etc. I have a graphiteleader 2pc (7'H) and a 6'9"(MH) that were not that spendy and pretty sensitive. Other brands like Majorcraft, Evergreen, etc are also wo...

Replacing rod tip? (dobyns gen 1 flipnpunch)
Hey anyone replaced a tip on a gen1 dobyns? The guide insert fell out and dobyns is using different guides now on their rods so they dont have any replacements. Just wondering what size/kind anyone might have used (would rather just do it myself than taking it in if possible).
thx

can thick braid fit through the insert on those 1oz+ weights? That's why I still buy tru tungsten instead of cheaper stuff like conquistadors and such thus far.

take a look at the Gan Craft Jointed Claw for a cheaper similar option, with similar build style/wide-swim.

Dobyns 805 flip/punch. Not a split grip, which I prefer as well, but fits the other critera. thats a sweet reel man should work out well for you. Just a fyi if you buy the tru tungsten weights for punching skip the peg system they have, they suck. I have 2 revo SXs and had/sold a STX, and while I love my revos I like my zillion a lot better for frogs. When you get down to the 1/2oz sizes like the bobbys frog I think the Zillion casts them a lot better. Drag? I'm crankin it down anyway

man i hate those tourney frogs - i bought two to mod like you said and the weight just fell out as I was working with them, plus you have to bend those owner hooks up (the ones on mine were so far down they actually stuck into the frog at rest) Ill stick to the bobbys myself.

I've just been sewing them up and super gluing them. They never seem to walk the same anymore and take on water but they hold up and still get blasted. casts so much better than power pro. once it "breaks in" then its just silk. Of course it loses color fast though so have that black marker handy.

I acutally like the vicious floro over the pline stuff, but i hate the line type in general. Rope or no, I only really use the 20lb so it doesn't matter to me - tough stuff and the right price.
Re: Frogs???
perfect frog - just wish they were more durable but willing to put up with it for the hookup ratio.

I have been really enjoying the Powell 735. If you're doing a lot of open water walking I would definitely think about the 725 but the 735 can handle it all, the water and the slop. Also works well for jigs and some small swimbaits.
