Newsome is a moron. Lecturing to others that their "actions do not reflect the values of the people of California" sounds hilarious coming from an admitted adulterer.

Re: Champion or not??
I have an older Champion , a '91 190 DC with a 200 Evinrude on the back and love it. It handles the big water in Clearlake and the Delta with no problems. The hull is in great shape and not because the boat gets "babied", I've made all the rookie driver mistakes (rocks, trees, sandbars) an...

I'm considering replacing the carpet in my Champion but don't have any idea what a reasonable price to pay would be. Any recommendations as to where in the Sacto area to have the work done?
thanks a bunch.

Go with C&C Marine in Citrus Heights. Speak with Mike and he'll set you up. I purchased the 480 through him and got a heck of a deal. So, purchase from a sponsor of this forum and get a good deal on a great product - it doesn't get any better than that.

I was very sorry to hear about Dennis. On more than one occasion, Dennis took the time to help me out. There aren't many people willing to spend the time to help a rookie. Those rods I own with the "DC Custom Rods" label have always done a great job putting fish in the boat - now they will...

I feel your pain. We did the same thing on Saturday. Caught a 4 lbr with a spook early in the morning then nothing until a dropshot fish around noon. Fished top to bottom and threw everything in the boat at them. Oh well, it was a nice day not to be working.

I use it for flip-shotting and haven't had any problems. They have a high visibility yellow color that makes it easy to see your bites. Combine it with a flourocarbon leader and you are ready for action.

Re: anyone here ever fish Collins??
Its a nice lake. Great place to take the kids for crappie and bluegill. Bass fishing is very average. Concentrate on the East side and watch for the brushpiles which extend out into the lake. You may also want to spend some time looking at the depthfinder to locate the islands. Waterskiers get to be...

Re: Has anybody ever camped at Bullards Bar?
I've never been to Bullards but you may want to check out a nearby lake, Collins Lake. Privately owned with a campground that closes at night and is patrolled so eliminate the drunken nuts. Another plus for me - no Jet Skis allowed. My family (including 3 and 6 yr old girls) has been making a couple...

Re: Color vs gray scale fish finders
I asked the same questions after my x-85 died this weekend. I'd love to have a color fish finder BUT I couldn't justify the cost. I went with the LMS 480 with GPS figuring my extra $$ was better spent on "not getting lost again in the @#*% delta". If I had a lot of money, no question, I'd ...

New LMS-480 coming on board - which chip (chips?) do I need?
I'm looking forward to enjoying the advantages of GPS plus mapping but am a bit overwhelmed as to my choices. I fish mostly the delta, clearlake, folsom, oroville, Berryessa, Collins and Amador. Freedom Maps, Hotspots, or Navionics??? Thanks a bunch for any help.

Re: What is a good bass boat for about $15K?
The delta and clear lake are both "Big" water. If you are serious about your fishing and want to be able to move about these waters comfortably and safely, I'd go with a fiberglass boat at least 19 feet in length. Even at that size, you are going to have to be careful.

I suspect I'm like a lot of other nutz in that I have a hard time throwing anything away and consequently, the pile just keeps on growing. I re-spool fairly often but still have some line that I know is several years old sitting in a plastic bin, so "how old is too old???" thanks a bunch!!
