Re: Planning a trip to NorCal in March
I've only fished the Delta twice, both tournaments with extensive pre-fishing, I wouldn't drive past that place towing a boat and not fish it. Its full of monster bass and there's nothing else in our state like it. If you're going to bypass the Delta, I would recommend a future trip just to fish the...

Re: Is Bass fishing a sport?
Bass fishing is unique in that the non-sponsored anglers are paying out of pocket expenses to play, legit gambling. You guys (and gals) who have been fortunate to obtain sponsorships have paid entries and some costs covered. Bottom line though, there is a physical action required to catch fish and a...

I've been a Phenix guy for almost 20 years. I like the product (not sponsored). I don't have a specific frog rod, just use my UMBX 606H with braid. I have long arms so I like the 6'6" rods.

When in doubt stick with Rapala Fat Raps or DT series. They should run true out of the box every time. Silver foil and Shad in 10-12' D and you can go to a DT14 or DT16. I like to cast down the bank and run these things off the rocks slow rolled and sometimes I will burn them depending on how the fi...

I recommend if you want to learn how to fish the frog to hire Bobby for a day and then when you're done go a few houses down Sandmound and hire Cooch to teach you how to throw a jig.

Re: New jig and Texas rig/worm rod…???
When I lose fish on those two techniques its because I'm not getting a good hook set. The t-rig is a little more forgiving if you don't set the hook right away and hard. If you hesitate with a jig chances are you're going to get a wishy washy hook set. If you don't have your line tight you could als...

The AZ and NV guys didn't want to come down and get their boats quarantined and not be able to fish. That and they would have had to keep their boats out of their home waters to pass inspection for a week before the derby. I would guess the fear of not passing inspection kept many from making the tr...

There's a reason why 99% of the guys out in Florida wear sun protective clothing. I have been using "Buffs" and protective clothing such as shirts/pants for a couple of years now. They work great. No burnt ears or back of neck. The large hats work too, but on windy days they flap all over...

I don't know that I could use the face cover as with sunscreen on my face it already makes my body overheat. I wear the hats with flaps for the ears and neck. I use mine for everything to topwater, texas rigging, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and crankbaits, although I use the X-10 more for crankbaits.
If it is the ML rod it may be a little lighter. The M is my all purpose rod except for technique specific heavier rods.

Just curious to see if you felt the same way when swimbaits started to dominate a lot of the cold weather month tournaments and basically turned into a whoever catches the biggest toad on a swimbait wins event?
The best anglers (the guys who put in the work) are still going to win the tournaments.

I can still in my dreams see the pig (15+) that spit my lizard just outside of reach of the net some 10 years later. The estimate on the fish is high because I had caught an 11+ two months prior and this one dwarfed my 11. I think all of us have felt this pain.

When USC got stripped of their wins because of Reggie Bush being ineligible, EVERY player on the team was affected. I would fish that crankbait at all angles around the hump and try different times of the day. You might have to kneel and reel to get the bait all the way down to the 18' flat. Cranks work good when they deflect off structure. You might also want to pull a swimbait from the 40' drop up that hump and...
