I think he is talking about the rock dam across Old River, as you head southeast around the bend from the marina. I haven't been that way this year...but I imagine the truck and trailer is in action if the dam is up.

I agree with giving the hunters a wide berth and I try to respect their space. The problem I have is with guys who set up on points in line with major travel lanes. If you set up in areas like this you are guaranteed to cross paths with others. Was out in big break Saturday and some azzwipe sprayed ...

I'm guessing the OP was fishing the bottom end of the tide? I've noticed a big clarity difference between high and low the past week. High is bringing a few feet of super clear water, while the low has a more tannic stain with a noticable reduction in visibility. Bite has been decent on either end t...

Re: Frog rod recommendation
In my opinion, you might have a hard time finding a single rod for both hollow bodies and rage toads. The frog rod should be heavier, where the toad rod should allow the fish to take the bait...more like a spinnerbait or buzzbait rod. That being said, I have both a Savvy 735 and a Powell 735 for hol...

What do you guys feel will be the effect on black bass west of the barrier? From what I understand, some water will still push through the barrier. Kind of like what you see at the middle river dam. I guess what I'm wondering is; will the salinity increase to a point to where it kills or moves the b...

Makes me wonder just how much "salty" water the black bass can tolerate. The delta is already enough of a challenge to fish with invasive weed growth and changing conditions. Now we get this added to the equation. Wonderful.

I think you might have missed what I was asking. I was actually looking for current there. It would help one find out where the bass are relating (along with the structure/cover I mentioned!) Basicly I was trying to see if the place was like a big pond or if it had some features.

Looks interesting, nice catch. Got a couple questions for you if you don't mind;
Did you notice any current from the pumps (if they were running)?
Any noticeable structure and cover in and around the water?

I think the guys are targeting the stripers there with chovies. I'd like to plug that place sometime, but not sure when that bite gets going. Put up some results if you give it a shot, been meaning to hit this place but am looking for plug action. Soaking bait is not my thing.
