Have you thought about starting with a club tournament? It is a much more relaxed entry into tournament fishing, plus you don't have the big tournament fees to pay out. Several of our members will fish with their sons, but we make accomodations for them by letting them blast off later in the morning...

I can tell you definitively the answer is NO, it does not meet the current CA emission standard. But depending on the body of water, it may not make a difference.
