Decided to check out the first day of the run of what looks to be beautiful weather over the next week or so. We were greeted with 20 plus mph winds, with gusts to may as well been 80 mph. I've thrown them a decent amount on the Delta, and I can say when I've been able to get the cranks to bump into rip rap, I get bit much more. Degree of angle between rod tip and the point in which the line angles again due to the vegetation you just punched through. Longer the rod, the greater the degree of angle to that point, which should give you better hook set penetration.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Mokelumne was blown out (brown), and that included many of the sloughs branching off of it, to include a large part of Potato slough south of Terminous and then into White Slough for a while. The San Joaquin was good though and that seemed to be pushing into White Slough...

If you're willing to take the time to learn it, the FG knot is the thinnest knot available. This link is probably the best tutorial available. If you attempt this knot, the step I missed the most, and caused the most frustration was the applying HEAVY pressure when pulling the main lines apart. http...

Are you asking in regard to water levels? Yes, it's been open all year. I used it about a month ago. Of course there are always issues with the roads leading to the lakes though when these rains happen, potentially causing mud slides. Not sure where you would go to get an update on road accessibility.

Yeah it's tough. Look at the weekend tournaments. Without a kicker, teams are around 11-13 lbs per five fish. This weather is silly.

I'm in the beginning stages of learning the Delta, but like Nate said, depth is relative. If you think about the contours of most Delta channels, there is obviously shallow grass, then you hit that channel slope (sometimes steep, sometimes not), and that slope has grass growing to a certain depth.
