When I bought mine I was told it was an over the counter exchange warranty. No cost about shipping or anything else was brought up. That's one of the reasons I bought it. What about all of the good folks the cut our fuel consumption way down. It was very helpful in a number of ways, lowering demand helps keep the price down (yea right), we also don't have to bow to the oil producing countries as much, to name a few.
