This unit is very old and you will be lucky if it works. I just took one of these off a friends boat last week and replaced it with an HDS Gen 3 7. This upgrade revolutionized his fishing life. The is so excited and happy.

I would consider an upgrade.

This is new to me. Haven't heard of that before. I would recommend calling Lowrance Customer Care and see if they have. At the least, you will be able to get an RA number (Return Authorization) number and be able to send it in for service.

I will look into this issue as I have experienced the same thing. Once a calibration is done, the unit will not let another calibration be done it seems. The "timed out" stop to the new calibration comes up. Hopefully, more info to follow...

My first question would be what you consider "through hull"? A transducer where you cut a hole in the bottom of the boat and install a transducer into the hole or a transducer that you place in the bilge area of a fiberglass boat and the transducer signal shoots "through" the hull.

Edd is exactly right. Although just in case you use that power for an additional use in the future and since you are pulling a new wire anyway, go up a couple sizes just in case. The larger the copper the better the source, hot or ground.

It shouldn't be too much of an issue, unless you have the magnet near a heading sensor or rate compass which is in the Point One GPS antenna. Keep any magnets at least 3 feet away from those GPS antennas.

The older X series are stand alone sonar units. The do not have an Ethernet port to network with any other units. HDS to HDS is the best way to go.

If you disconnect the Ethernet cable and save a waypoint on the console unit and don't have an NMEA network connected, then you just need to go up to the front unit and hit waypoint twice to have it on that unit too.

The only mapping I use outside of the pre loaded mapping in my HDS units is Insight Genesis.

That is the correct setting for the built in transducer. I would not use a built in transducer though. Those are made to work with any make of electronics and are not best for the clearest and precise detail. Make sure when you unzip the file from the web site that you load a .upd file onto the card. That is the update. If you have a file ending in .meta the unit won't read it. The units will only read a .upd file.
