Re: Best Crank Rod for around $100

Check out BPS Woo Daves Extreme rods, or the Stacy King line. The Woo Daves 7' med. cranking/spinnerbait rod goes for $69.99 on sale, and they are great rods for the money. And the power hump handle makes casting all day easier on the hands. They're made in China, but so are a lot of premium rods (S...

NaCl, You're right. Now's the time to fish or cut bait. If the Fed leadership waits any longer, BASS will steal away enough Fed anglers to seriously damage the Fed, and BASS has the money to wait them out. Now it the time to act. Not acting is like waiting for the bite to turn on instead of moving. ...

For Huddlestons and that weight swimbaits, and even 3/4 oz LA Sliders, the Shimano Crucial XHeavy 8' is perfect (thank you Ron C.) I have an 8' Terramar, and it has a stiffer tip, which makes it great for Slammers and heavier swimbaits, but too stiff for Huddlestons. If I leave a 3' line drop from t...

My partner bought one at the Anglers Marine Bass-A-Thon. It throws great. The handle came loose, and he couldn't figure out how to tighten it, and neither could Anglers when he went back, so they gave him another reel. No problem on the replacement, and it is sweet.

Re: What about attaching

Another thing to try to eliminate line twist with 3/4 oz and heavier jigs is to use 30lb. braid, with a flouro leader, tied on with an Albright knot. Leader length is you choice depending on how often you retie, and howmuch line you use when you retie. The braid makes the setup super sensitive, but ...

LA Slider rod

Robert, I bought a 7'6" Phenix swimbait rod from Chris at Bass World, and it's perfect for 3/4oz Sliders. I haven't tried it for anything else except swimbaits. It's too light for Huddlesons, unless your throwing them parallel side arm, more of a sling. But it's perfect for Sliders. It seems to...

Brian, They make circular hole saws to use in a drill. They are much easier to use, and do less damage, than a jig saw. The hole needs to be small enough to keep enough meat around it for the mounting screws to be solid, but big enough to pass the connecting nuts for the three sonar/GPS leads. Bette...

For the center hole, too small is better than too large. The large hole is to let the three mounting nuts pass through. After you've drilled the four mounting holes and the center hole, if the nuts won't pass through, use a dremel or similar grinding tool to enlarge just one part of the large hole t...

If you're going to install it yourself, lay out the mount, use the center area, about 11/4" to test which size drill bit is best for the mounting screws without cracking or being too tight, layout and drill the four mounting holes, and then use a hole saw to cut out the center hole. That way yo...

If you're talking about Ram mounts for your sonar at the console, and if you don't have room to or don't want to flush mount your unit, the answer is yes. They are a very good way to go. They are easy to install, easy to adjust, and do a good job of holding, even in rough water. And they let you adj...
