Re: Castaic -

When the water was still flowing into the back of creeks there was a “secret” frog bite going on the debris mats. Now that the jerks are lowering the lake during the spawn as they like to do, the frog bite may not be ongoing?

I want to shout out to Jigging4bass for making up his fabulous Puff Ball jigs he made up for me on my Viper Head jig. Marks craftsmanship is phenomenal!
What is a Viper Head jig? It’s a secret design since 1971.

Look at the last 2 tournaments, horrible results.
The water is now dropping for unknown reasons (making room for purchasing MWD water).
Lots of fry, the spawn may be over before lowering the water hopefully.

Re: California bracing for severe flooding from snowpack melt

The entire Delta area could be underwater if the Sacramento River system dikes should fail during flood stage run off. Lots of small communities are built on a flood plain that only dikes keep them dry. Hopefully everything holds up but little warning when it fails.

Castiac is at full pool from dirty rain water run off with debris everywhere. Normal water supply is from California aqueduct via Elderberry forebay. The water quality is a mess full of silt, ash and fire retardants. Tough bite until you locate cleaner water, few did!

Yep, the reddish orange phos foam is now floating with the bark and branches for cover.
Coffee tannic color water is usual for SoCal lakes but seeing clouds of red orange surfacing with sunlight is something I have never seen before.

Miramar wasn’t stocked according to Botroff the biologist for the program.
When the Zimmerlee record bass showed in ‘73 the question came up.
Larry used the ponds at Miramar that had adult size FLMB to start rearing fingerling that were transferred to Upper Otay as I recall.
