Re: HDS Networking Questions
Actually the standard skimmer transducer can be used in both applications. It works just as well as a puck style transducer when epoxied inside your hull in the sump of your boat. Don't bother exchanging that one. The trolling motor can also use the skimmer transducer, though a puck style is more co...

Re: HDS7 Gen2 problem with structure scan
FYI, though I don't recommend it, the power cables from the LCX units do work with HDS units, so your shop is wrong about that. The difference in the cables is the older style had an extra power wire in the harness for the NEMA2000 network, but otherwise they are the same and will work. Also, the Ge...

FYI, you will also be able to choose whether you want to view your HDS-5 sonar transducer from your HDS-8, and vice versa. And you can set them up with the menu choices to have both HDS units view only one transducer at the same time, to eliminate crosstalk (network sonar feature); and you can selec...

If you did, then you set it back to factory settings, which means it will use the internal antenna instead of the external. You will hav...

Yes, it would be a good idea to perform a soft reset. It should not affect your waypoints, but I would first back them up just in case. The reset will not remove or hurt your current software version; it will remain as your operating system. The other thing that happens is that transducers do wear w...

Where is your transducer mounted? You want to make sure that it has not been bumped or moved out of position; it should be pointed straight down to be able to see the proper detail.
