Weightless Texas rig, 6 inch Senko, any with red flake. Braid to 20lb Mono leader. Any meaty jig rod will work, fast gears. Toss it in the middle of the tullies where nobody else would dare to
Re: Big bass
I would recommend Camanche and Berryessa. These two lakes have been in hibernation and have giants in them. You will see giants coming out of these lakes this year, Camanche had many double digit fish caught there last year. Throw a big Hud
Re: Amador...
I too grew up fishing Amador. Don’t let Amador trick you though, it’s not the people keeping the bass, plenty of bass in the lake. Remember, it’s a smaller lake and in the winter, the water level will fluctuate by feet on a given day. The cold temps really affect the fish in Amador. Fish deep in the...

Re: Fishing Line qestion
What's the reason you guys use any leaders for braid? Easy to cast, no birds nests, and tough so you have very little chance of breaking off a fish. You can also see your line, when it’s cold in the fall and winter, long pauses when fishing jerkbaits is sometimes key. They hit it on the pause so if...

Re: Drop shot questions
To me drop shot is a vertical soft plastic finesse worm presentation for numbers of bass under 3 lbs. Wind and depth to be able to feel the bottom without being snagged is the only consideration and weight shape that prevents snagging a primary concern, usually a round weight. I use black brass 1/8...

I’d go with a Ranger 198. Proven brand you can service almost everywhere, holds its value, and may actually be less expensive. I don't think your gonna get the performance in that boat or the speed as you would on the 1980 Vexus. Same length and motor size, why would it be different?? It’s an alumi...

Nice fish, congrats! Del Valle has giants in it, it’s just impossible to launch there for most due to the rigorous dry boat inspection. Trout Huds this time of year, slow roll on the bottom. Points and the damn, also, wood always holds fish in that lake. Dragging a jig on the rocky bottom as well.

The mid size ploppers are the best, try to find the older ones, the newest manufactured ploppers are garbage. Use a longer rod so you can make long casts, 7’4” - 8’, heavy power, I like Powell rods. 40-50lb braid, brand doesn’t matter.

No, you’re dreaming...
120 hours on a 2 year old boat is nothing for a real fisherman. A new 20-21 foot Ranger, Triton, Bass Cat, or Skeeter is $65,000 - $90,000 new. So a used one at 1-3 years old will set you back $50,000-$70,000. Sounds like you are looking for a used Nitro or Phoenix.

I don’t think you’ll have any issues since they’re both 12 volt. The size 31 battery will take longer to charge, but it’s charge will last a tag bit longer.

Why not return the rods or order the same rod manufacture you prefer using? I also recommend shopping at Tackle Warehouse or a local bass fishing store.
