Re: Dobyns Rods
Gary's rods are the only ones in my boat any more. My clients fall in love with them after they catch a few fish on them and realize how different they are from every other rod they have ever used. Even the weekend guys that just fish with their kids say they have never felt bites like they can with...

Re: Lowrance LCX crossover to HDS question
Hi Mike, If you go to a system that eventually has two HDS units then you must have the power node so the NMEA backbone has power. If you have one HDS unit that uses it's internal GPS antenna and one LCX or LMS unit with it, then the NMEA backbone can get power if the power cord for the LCX or LMS h...

Re: Lowrance LCX crossover to HDS question
The HDS units use the same ducer as LCX units. The NMEA network is the same, but the power cable is different in that the LCX units had a three wire power cable and the HDS units use a two wire cable. The reason is that the NMEA backbone was powered through the unit in the LCX system. This is why wi...

Hello Brian, When you go to the web site and the stand alone installer doesn't work, that is when you click in the box that says to click here to install update on the SD card. Go a little further down the page and find Troubleshooting and click the link to PC or Mac or Linux, whichever is the opera...

Re: Any you Lowrance guys out there....
Leon, As for the unit turning off while you are running, make sure you have the 3.0 software in the unit. The last version of software was 2.5. To check what version is currently in the unit, hit Menu, Menu, go to system and hit enter, go to the bottom to "About" and hit enter. The dialog ...

Re: Any you Lowrance guys out there....
All HDS units come with a 2 year warranty so call customer service for a return authorization number and get it repaired. It sounds like the key pad is bad at the power button. As for the comments about water inside the HDS units, Lowrance did have a problem with early units but fixed that issue mon...

Re: BASS AOY Process-Agree or Disagree
This format does not reward the angler that has the best complete season hence the "Angler of the Year" title. We who are Skeet fans aren't happy with the last two year's outcome. Keep in mind a west coast guy could benefit from this someday too. Then what would we be saying? Maybe we woul...

I like Heading Up. This way while you are running and look down at the screen the map will look like your surroundings. If you use the default setting of North Up and you look at your Chart while running south the map looks upside down when compared to what you see in front of you. This can be a lit...

Re: Hand held GPS for hiking - suggestions?
I used the Lowrance Outback at the FLW College Fishing Geo Cashing event at UOP in Stockton and found it to be really easy to use and very accurate. We were guided to within just a couple feet of the hidden boxes. I hadn't used any of the handhelds before and this unit was a quick learn and really f...

Re: Lorance HD7
Your trail is what you are seeing on the chart. There are settings in the unit that you can set at home sitting in your boat to start a new trail, delete the existing trail, or to choose that no trail is left behind. To do this turn your unit on and hit menu, go to settings, then go to chart. If you...

Re: Lowrance LGC 4000 ?
If there is a question mark in the cursor then you do not have a lock on your position. Do you have the 4000 on new HDS units or did up upgrade the LCX system you had on your boat? The reason I ask is because the LCX units have a three wire power cord. One is to power the NMEA backbone so the GPS an...

Re: Lowrance HDS-5 transducer
The skimmer transducer, HST-WSBL, comes in the combo package. This transducer can be installed into the bilge of your boat just like the puck transducer, PDT-WBL. The only difference between the two transducers is the external housing. The puck is easier to epoxy into the bottom of the boat but the ...

Hi Pete, It is easy to update your Lowrance unit yourself but the first time can be difficult being something you haven't done before. Once you do it successfully it gets easier every time and you'll be helping your friends do it. Take an empty SD card and go to www.lowrance.com and click on Downloa...

The title of this thread is Lowrance rebate and the initial message said "what is it worth". My response just answered that question assuming that the reason for a rebate in the first place was understood. Sorry for any misconceptions out of context.

Re: Lowrance Rebate
The rebate program works this way; if you have a unit that is less than 5 years old, something goes wrong with it and Lowrance can not fix it because of its age, then Lowrance, at their discretion, will give you the rebate on a new unit. This is done on an individual basis after the unit is sent int...

I like the Dobyns 705CB but unlike Andrews I like the graphite rod for the feel. I agree with most here that the 7 foot rod has many more benifits over shorter rods. You won't be dissapointed with this rod.

I have two, a 733c and a 734c and I think Gary sorta messed up. After fishing Extreme's, Champion's and now the Savvy's I think most guys might just find that you don't need to spend more money than the price of the Savvy's. They have to be the very best rod for the money. Light, sensitive and good ...

Re: Whats with the month wait for my Dobins rod?
Hey Ken, I know personally that if Gary or Richard knew about the rod it would be taken care of promptly. Sometimes even a good shop can take a warranty rod that comes in and put it back on the rack without notifying the customer. This is not so uncommon, we are all human after all. As for your comm...

Re: MCABEE, JR. LEADS WALMART FLW SERIES EVENT ON CLEAR LAKE
Jason_33, Randy seems to have a great understanding of how the bass relate to structure and he's able to pick it apart with those crankbaits. He hasn't done as well in the spring but the fall is his time. He also designed 8 ft. cranking rods for Dobyns and those seem to be helping too.
