Re: Sonar help

Brian,
I noticed that the front unit has no interference when the trolling motor is up. Maybe that's the key, and I should use it like that all the time.

Re: Sonar help

Hey, Jeff. Things are good, they haven't caught on to me yet. My transducer is transom mount. It's only three years old, but has been switched from one hull to another. Given the increase in performance I got when I changed out the front transducer, I think I may just try that first. Maybe there's a...

Try this. Re: beyond fizzing for deep bass....

Your idea sounds like a good one. But I would guess that fish, unlike humans, are designed for depth changes. That's why they have an "adjustable" swim bladder. They probably don't suffer the bends, or they wouldn't be able to chase prey to different levels, or evade bigger fish. But it wo...

You're right, it's not okay to move in on someone else if they're in a tourney, or otherwise. I would never do that. And if a tourney boat pulls up to a spot I'm on, and asks, chances are I will yield. It's all in how it's done. A few years ago I was fishing Big Cachuma Cove, way in the back, with m...

While I agree everyone has the same basic right to the lake, either to fish or, hard as it is to say, to ski, I do ask other fishermen if they're fishing a tournament when I'm just fun fishing, or pre-fishing. Re: in sync technology from lowrance?

Marc, Three questions. First, since using two units is sooo common, and the 192-200 megahertz range is the best, why doesn't Lowrance, or Pinpoint, or Garmin, or somebody, offer sets for a boat with one at 192 and the other at 200? Second, how about a remote on/off switch at the bow for the console ...

Re: Marc

When Castaic and the rest of the southern cal. lakes were chocolate this last winter, sonar was the only way to find any structure, which was different than in the past. The heavy rains had caused so many slides and moved so much mud, the lakes down here were totally different. I know this isn't the...

Re: Sonar help

That does all make sense, Noluk. Thanks. I think I speeded up the front ping speed a while ago, and never slowed it back down, so that may help. I usually run it slower than the console, which I use when I'm running. I'll try cleaning the transducer, and see what happens. If all else fails, I'll put...

I recently replaced the transducer on my trolling motor, for the X98 on the bow. Now, it overrides the depth on my console X15, and even seems to show more detail.
